The Ministry of Christian Education at Prince of Peace oversees many activities of the church. The ministry provides and promotes opportunities for members and friends of all ages to participate in educational activities of the church (Faith Family and Fun Nights, Adult Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, youth group, Bible studies, etc.); provides opportunities for the youth of our congregation and their friends to participate in meaningful discussion groups and fellowship activities; provides books of personal and family devotion for the use in the homes of our members, and encourage their use and encourage members to consider vocations in the Church. Some of the areas of ministry include:
Sunday School
Each Sunday our children meet to learn the stories of the Bible and do fun and exciting activities to reinforce the message of the lesson for that week. We invite you and your children to be part of our Sunday School class at 9:00 AM.
Adult Sunday School and Week Night Bible Studies
As much as we value growing our children and families in faith, we also work to continue to grow and deepen the faith of our adults as well. Each Sunday from the Sunday after Labor Day to the Sunday before Memorial day, we have an Adult Sunday School Class that meets at 9:00 AM. They discuss various topics of the day and how the scriptures give us insight on them as well as encouraging faith in daily life.
On the 1st, 3rd and 5th Mondays of each month at 7:00 PM, an Adult Bible Study is held. The study centers on a specific book and what that book is about. Everyone is welcome to be a part of the reading and discussion.
Lending Library
Prince of Peace has a wonderful lending library located in the hallway near the Fellowship hall. The library contains books, CD's, DVD's and videos for all ages. Areas of interest include popular Christian fiction, children's books, Lutheran church history, doctrine and theology, Bible study resources and youth resources. Some of the favorites are the VeggieTale videos, Janette Oak and Jan Karon novels, Chicken Soup books, Arch books and devotional resources. The Library Committee also purchases CareNote pamphlets. These pamphlets offer help and advice to parents, the grieving and others in life crisis situation.
Youth Group
The youth of our congregation are of our most important asset. At Prince of Peace, we offer our youth from grades 5-12 an opportunity to learn and grow in a group that meets their needs. By taking part in fun activities, study of God's Word and taking part in Synod and ELCA youth activities, our youth are given the chance to grow and expand their faith as they live, love and serve God together. Activity Bags for Worship
The Ministry of Christian Education provides activity bags for children to help keep them busy during the worship service. These bags are located in the church narthex, and contain quiet items such as books, a children's worship bulletin, crayons and pictures to color. After the service, just return them to the worship bag cart and they will be replenished for next Sunday.
